TITLE: RULES AND MORE RULES -ETHICS 

1.5 HRS (90 Minutes) 

PRESENTERS: PAM GWIN SHEPPARD, CSR AND KEVIN BOWDEN, CR Firm Owner

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

This 1.5-hour session will discuss a variety of topics regarding the ethical rules/regulations that court reporters are required to follow in their jobs as either freelancers or officials.          

 Specific Topics:                                                             

• Importance of taking jobs commensurate with your skill level

• How firms should ask questions of new reporters to determine that skill level

• Social media

• Turning the tables – helping digitals see the advantage of going to reporting school

• New laws/rules discussed in legislative sessions regarding reporters

• Why rules, such as NCRA ethics, are so important

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Reporters will learn the ethics/rules regarding our profession and how important it is to follow the rules to keep your licensure intact in those states with licensure and what is necessary for a state with no licensure in order to stay compliant.  They will also learn where to find the rules and regulations for their state and through NCRA.
