COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This hour-long presentation will focus on defining and discussing deposition summaries and the ethical dilemmas regarding reporters/reporting firms providing deposition summaries. We’ll discuss how attorneys use deposition transcripts and how deposition summaries are used in the life cycle of a case. Additionally, we’ll discuss how the deposition summary is created, different forms of summaries, and why they are important. After a full understanding of summaries, we discuss how and why providing deposition summaries creates an ethical dilemma, which dilemmas can be overcome with practice solutions and which should be avoided. Finally, we discuss implications of AI entering the marketplace and how AI will interact with transcripts.
